"The woofer was designed with the capability to produce SPL levels of 188 dB, which are entirely possible, given an appropriately built vehicle. It is simply a matter of displacement and containment". There not saying it does but that it could. They are getting this by mathmatics. I thought that would be the case as no metering equipment can go above 184db as of yet. Still very cool. Definatly not practical for even SPL but still cool thanks.

the guys who made it performed the tests on specialized equipment. idk for a fact cause i havnt seen it in person. google "worlds biggest subwoofer" it should be there
JaREEDeffect (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Just curious. How do you figure it does 188db when conventional metering equipment only goes to 184dbs? Not trying to hate just what to know how you came up with this :)
